2010 Ford Taurus, standard key ignition. Installing Avital 4103 with an XK05.

XK05 was flashed to latest version.

Installed, programmed and remote start worked great. 30 minutes later the remote start would not work, nor would the car start with either of the ignition keys. I removed the main harness from the XK05, and the car would then start with either ignition key.

Reprogrammed XK05 from directechs, programmed to car, and same sequence occurred.

Car was not locked with the door open or with the factory keyless during any of these tests.

I concluded that the bypass module was defective, given the vehicle would not start with the keys.

I ordered a DBALL2 to replace the XK05, but wanted to know if anyone has had a similar experience with bypass modules failing shorter after installation. I have had similar issues, but not with the Ford firmware.

The XK05 was wired D2D.

I swapped out the bypass with a DBALL2 and all is well.

My conclusion was the XK05 was defective.
