Got a call today from a long time customer. Bought a 2017 Toyota Highlander PTS.. Looking for some recommendations on a remote starter for this SUV... Standard remote start and ALCA, 3x lock and maybe a range extender or maybe a Idatastart unit??? Any ideas from anyone would be great. And anything special about the install and accessability to all the components???? Thanks for any comments in advance!!!!!!

All depends on the customers range requirements. The Factory remotes typically give insufficient range.

I like the iDatastart units. Very compact, well built units with ADS rock solid firmware. An HC2 unit will give your customer 3,000 foot range, 2 way confirmation and also allow the Factory FOB to remote start the vehicle with 3x Lock. The HC3 units can provide 1 mile 2 way range.

The Steering Lock connector was slightly covered in the prior year but the 2017 is more exposed. Everything else is not too bad and all under the drivers side dash. Typical very thin wires found on newer Toyota's. Been using my thermal wire strippers a lot on these Toyota's.

Soldering is fun!

Don't laugh Kreg, UK Land Cruisers don't have either the two factory RS prep wires or the pins, you have to open the ECU and wire directly.

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.
