I am installing a remote starter with a bypass module in my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, but have run into a problem. The remote start system is a Avital 4103LX and the bypass module is an iDatalink ADS-ALCA.

I flashed the ADS-ALCA with the ADS-AL(DL)-CH5-EN firmware and followed the corresponding installation guide. However, the problem came when I tried to program the bypass module. I powered it on, then selected w2w mode (two flashes), as this is how I wired the module to the remote starter. Next, the LED turned solid red for just a moment, then started flashing red. According to the installation guide, a flashing red light during installation means Missing/wrong information from firmware or vehicle. I went on to check and confirm all connections with an ohmmeter between the vehicle and the ADS-ALCA. All connections were correct, soldered, and made good connections.

After that, I decided to try d2d mode. I plugged in the data cable between the ADS-ALCA and the remote starter, then factory reset the module. Next, I selected data mode on the bypass module (one flash) and got the same result as before.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

I worry that because my 2007 Grand Cherokee is equipped with a tip-start ignition, it falls somewhere between the 2005-2007 installation guide and the 2008-2013 installation guide. Has anyone with a 2005-2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee or 2005-2007 Chrysler 300 with tip-start successfully installed an iDatalink ADS-ALCA?

Also, what connections are required during programming of the bypass module? Theoretically, during troubleshooting, should I be able to program the ADS-ALCA with just the 12V, GROUND, IGNITION OUTPUT, IGNITION STATUS OUTPUT, MUX, CANH, CANL, and IGNITION INPUT wires connected?

The link to the installation guide didn't work.
It can be found HERE. At the bottom of the page, select DL-CH5.

A few thoughts...

I have used the ADS AL-CA w/CH5 firmware a bunch. Always good results. Can't remember if I specifically
did a 2005 G.C. I do have a Pictorial on a 2006 Charger that is very similar to your install. Here is a link :

While the ADS AL-CA w/ADS-AL(DL)-CH5-EN firmware is OK to use with the Avital 4103LX in W2W
mode, it will not work in D2D mode. If you want D2D mode, you must flash the ADS AL-CA with the
DBI-AL(DL)-CH5-EN version of firmware. Personally, I would stay with the W2W setup as it is much
more relaible.

For that install, follow the wiring diagram exactly. No other wires are needed. Make sure the diode has
the band towards the 4103LX. Make all the necessary ADS AL-CA to 4103 LX connections. These are
all you need :
4103LX
+12V Constant ( both Reds )
Chassis Ground
Starter (+)
Ignition (+)
Parking Light (-) *
Tach
Unlock (-)
Lock (-)
Trunk (-)
Status Output (-) ( GWR )
Ignition (+)
Brake (+)
Hood Pin (-)
* use Hazards  WHITE/Dark Blue to WHITE/ tan (-)  SCM, 16 pin plug, pin 16

ADS AL-CA
GWR
Chassis Ground
+12V
Lock
Unlock
Trunk
Starter
Tach
and everything on the other sides' connectors except Door and Trunk Status

Soldering is fun!
