I have a 2000 Silverado with an Excalibur AL-2060-EDPB RS. I want to have my DRL and Reverse lights come on when I disarm the alarm and or RS the system. I hooked it up once using diodes and it worked perfectly until I seen one of my diodes were getting to hot. Would a higher amp diode (5-10amp) work? I tied into the RS flashing light wire with one diode (This one got to hot) and then tied into the DLR and reverse light using a diode so my reverse lights would not come on with my DRL's.

Also I noticed that when I disarm the alarm and my parking lights come on the truck chimes like the door is open or the lights are left on. Is there anyway to stop the chime from going off? Right now I have my lights hooked up to the (+).

The diode does need to be sufficient amperage to handle the current draw of the lights.

Go to a 3amp diode (1N5404) for the DRL's, use a relay for the back-up lights.

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.
