Have all the wires hooked up as listed. Cranks and starts, but starter keep running. I’m using an idatalink bypass. D2D. The viper gives three options for tach. Virtual, voltage and tachometer. Any suggestions? Ive done the tach learn procedure( hold button down for three sec with car running and I get the blue light).

Interface Module
ADS-AL CA

Serial: 6416CFEC4A
Firmware: DBI-AL(DL)-CH6(v2.0)
Hardware: AL (64)

You do have the correct firmware on the bypass module. Hopefully you set the bypass modules
Installation Mode to Data, one blink pattern, and locked it in.

The bypass module should supply a good Tach signal via the D2D harness. I would manually
program the Viper to Engine Checking = Tach and then do the Tach Learn process. If it still
over-cranks, you could do a hardwire of the Tach Signal between the bypass module and the Viper.
Last resort is to switch to Virtual Tach.

Yes it is set to data, everything else seems to work fine. Door locks, door signal etc. Shoukd I maybe re flash it? I’ve installed a few of these but this is my first d2d attempt.

Think I would verify the Viper Engine Checking = Tach first.

Next I would just run a hardwire Tach wire between the Viper and the bypass module. Then try a Tach Learn and a remote start.

Then a re-flash, factory reset, Install Mode lock-in and vehicle program if nothing else worked.

You try Virtual Tach for grins.

Can the bypass be in D2D but still use the W2W Tach? Gonna try to get it figured out on Thursday. Thanks for the help Kreg.

Program tach, Menu 3 feature 2 option 4 then re-learn tach.
That over cranking is because tach hasn't been learned.

Yes, while I don't use a lot of Viper units, I have read that you can go to D2D and hardwire certain Viper inputs like the Brake and Tach signals.

They've changed it Kreg, doing an 08 3 Series BMW last week, you can't select individual items any more, also that you could flash program comfort close, convertible roof up and down, had to manually program them on the DB-ALL.

Tried it again this morning, refelashed the module, and set to data. The door locks work fine, door input works fine and the car starts with the key as normal. Tach learn process seems to be working, get the led on steady and hear relays click when I releases the switcH.

Starter still stays engaged, and after a few seconds the car quits running and starter stays cranking engine until I abort the start from the remote.
Any ideas?
