First off thank you to all of you for your help you have been amazing.
According to idatalink all I need for this car is the al ca. No actual remote start is required. Does this sound right? From what I can tell it will start the car using the factory key fob. Idatalink doc#38461 page 9. Firmware RS-ch5... This is a new one to me so any advice is greatly appreciated...

yes, with the alca you can do whats called RSR or remote start ready. You use your factory key fob and hit lock 3 times and it starts your car. draw backs are you only have the range your factory key fobs have. No extra fancy features like rear defrost, ect. You can add a compustar remote with antenna to it for around 75 to 100 bucks and get two key fobs with about 3000 feet of range or add on the drone mobile and get unlimited range from cell phone. You could also do a dircted dball3 and do the same but adding a remote to it is alot more expensive.
