So i work a gm dealer long story short, i got a working(i tested it before removal) remote start system out of a 2005 chevrolet silverado. I drive a 2002 GMC sierra and wanted to install it. I wired it identical to how it was wired in the 2005 and it will crank my truck for a second then stop. why is this? larger gauge wiring is wired correctly into ignition wires to my knowledge, then 1 wire going to brake pedal shutoff and 1 going from the bypass module to the purple class 2 dataline. is there supposed to be more wired into the system? also this remote start has 1 button on fob thats it.

here is the remote start directed electronics module

Not sure if you can do what you are trying to do. The bypass module appears to be an XK01 with AMDL firmware.
Here is a link to the install guide : https://directechs.blob.core.windows.net/documents/xk01-amdl_en_ig_me20120511.pdf

You could try doing the vehicle programming steps. If it shows already programmed to vehicle, I'm not sure how to reset
the module and get it to learn your new vehicle. You might have to re-flash the XK01 firmware to reset it.

thanks for the link! finally can at least know what the pinouts are. so looking at that link it says its blank for 2002 gmc sierra. but for 2005 i install it with type 4. thats confusing. so pretty much that bypass module isnt compatible with my 02? hmm.

Yes, it would appear that way. The 1999 through 2002 models are different from the 2003 through 2006 models.
I was hoping that it would at least handle the Passlock2 for you but maybe not. There is a Pictorial on your
truck that should give you all the info you need to install the 4113 system. The Pictorial uses the 4103 unit
that has 4 button remotes that will control the power locks, too. The only thing you need is a bypass module
for the Passlock2 system. The Directed 556LW is a decent unit that goes for ~ $20, when you can find them.
Personally I would look for an ADS TBSL PL bypass module. More expensive but an easier install and more
reliable. Another option would be to permanently disable the Passlock2 ( before it goes bad... ). Here is
a link to the Pictorial :    https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=135786

thank you for all the help. what i ended up doing was installing the remote start module, ditching the bypass and installing a resistor into the passkey 2 circuit. only because to my knowledge, passkey 2 will only prevent people from starting the vehicle without a key turning the ignition properly and yet theyd still have to disable the steering lock.
