Many years ago I installed small disc-shaped piezo shock sensors inside the doors to detect door handle tampering. I believe I remember they worked well. They had a very localized protection zone.

I did a quick search and didn't see anything that was routinely used today. Are they still used?

Those came with AutoPage alarms back in the early 80's. I can't say I've seen any since then.

Wonder why they haven't remained popular. It seemed like a good idea. You could place them in small areas that might be prone to tampering without having to jack up the sensitivity of the main shock sensor.
