Installed a very basic InstallGear IGCA alarm system in my buddies 1989 Suburban so he would have keyless entry and security. He didn't even want starter interrupt hooked up. I hooked the negative door trigger of the alarm to the white wire behind the headlight control box. The wiring diagram showed a white wire at the pin, I figured this same white wire at back of the headlight control was the same wire since you can turn the dome light on with the knob.

So any time you open the door it triggers the flasher. If at night with headlights on it flashes dash lights and parking lights and you can hear the flasher ticking under the dash.

I have a couple diode isolators just not sure where to install them. I know how they work, just never used them before. This is my 2nd alarm to install. Done a bunch of systems. But this is new territory.

You're on the wrong wire. Verify with a meter first. Go to the pin switch in the door instead.

If there is a lamp under the dash you can catch the white wire there.

According to this it's all the same. That's why I don't understand why opening door would trigger the flashers.

If you disconnect your wire from the wire at the light switch does it still turn the flashers on when you open the door?
