Going to be installing a Avital remote start this weekend. Looking at the install guide for the Idatalink Alca there is mention of needing two keys, but i note saying KLON can be used on some vehicles. Anyone have any experience with this? Just need to know if I will actually need two factory keys.

Thanks in advance.

That year Edge had 40 bit keys. You can program the bypass module with two, unique, non-clone keys or if you have only one key, you can use the KLON process to program the ADS AL-CA bypass module.

Just flash the ADS AL-CA with the correct FM2 firmware.

If you have two keys, follow the normal guide for 2 key programming.

If you only have one key, follow the guide for one key. This is a three step process. Initial key read. Data upload, data massage and KLON download, then final programming. You do need the ADS USB cable and Flash site access to complete the KLON process. It works great and is easy to do. Sometimes faster than getting the timing right and using two keys.

Soldering is fun!

Thanks Kreg, just wanted to make sure. I have done KLON on a few other vehicles. Appreciate the heads up.
