I posed this question about two months and I didn't get any good responses. So I will try again.

I have a Husky Brand single lid trunk style truck box on my truck. Your standard truck box with the latch hardware facing towards the rear of the box. I will provide pictures soon. I am looking for a source of custom locking actuators or an idea of how it might be possible to build a mechanism that is controlled by my keyless entry system. The wiring part is not problem for me and neither is the fabrication, I just can't figure a mechanism that would do what I want to in a compact manor. Please let me know if you know if a good source of unique locking mechanisms.

Thanks

Brad

Brad,

You may have to post a pic of the latching mechanism so we can take a look and help you come up with something. There may be a retail product available but not that I know of...

I got some pics now.

The top left pictures shows the latch mechanism on the box itself. Those jaws clamp around the piece in the bottom left picture. On the outside of the box(not pictured) is your standard buckle style handle that pulls up and the key lock is there too. The key lock basically inhibits the handle from being pulled from the outside. I am looking for an off the shelf electricl locking mechanism (if on exists) that could somehow also prevent the handle from being pulled OR latch onto the lid hardware. I want to be able to mount this mechanism inside the box preferably somewhere around the or on the locking mechanism itself.
let me know if you have any questions.

Here's the problem when trying to view your image on your web server or when you try to include that URL in an image tag in a forum post...

It's difficult to tell from your image, but if the key lock moves a small rod or lever that prevents the handle from moving the large rod that is connected to the "jaws" viewable in your image, you should be able to add a door lock actuator to the small rod or lever to accomplish what it is you're trying to do. You may also be able use a linear actuator to move and hold the large rod in either position.
