ok, ive searched and cant find anything to remedy my issue

I have an old 1995 cadillac fleetwood, type A lock system...maybe 12 years ago I installed a viper 5900 alarm. for the lock/unlock it just required you to connect the green and blue wires to the wires at the lock/unlock switch, no relays for the type A system

recently the alarm died and I pulled everything out. I miss my remote start so I purchased a Viper 5706v. upon connecting the lock wires back how they were previously, it does not lock or unlock...any ideas before I pull my hair out, lol

Your old Viper system had "push / pull" or flip-flop door lock outputs. They would output both + and - pulses to enable connection to either Type A or Type B vehicle door lock systems.

Your new Viper only outputs only a Type B pulse, (-). It will not work on your Type A car. The easy way to do it is to get a DEI 451M door lock module ($9). It plugs right into the Viper and will convert the (-) outputs to the (+) outputs your car needs. The 451M install guide is in the Downloads section.

ok,I dont do this work professionally so I have to ask for a little help.

car is a 1995 fleetwood. the alarm side works fine, the remote start, im sure needs a few more wires

Main Harness, White 6-pin connector

6 ORANGE (-) 500mA (GWA) GROUND WHEN ARMED OUTPUT     is this required

Auxiliary/Shutdown/Trigger Harness, White 24-pin connector

11 WHITE/BLUE ACTIVATION INPUT

Remote Start, White 10-pin heavy gauge connector

2 RED/BLACK (+) FUSED 12V ACCESSORY/STARTER INPUT

from the last alarm, viper 5900, I had power going to the brown wire in the harness for the starter wires, I cant find info on what that wire is for and if it needs to wired to the remote start

thanks so much

Main Harness, White 6-pin connector

6 ORANGE (-) 500mA (GWA) GROUND WHEN ARMED OUTPUT     is this required     No. Typical use for window roll-up, etc.

Auxiliary/Shutdown/Trigger Harness, White 24-pin connector

11 WHITE/BLUE ACTIVATION INPUTNot used. Used for testing or external unit control input.

Remote Start, White 10-pin heavy gauge connector

2 RED/BLACK (+) FUSED 12V ACCESSORY/STARTER INPUT        Yes. Goes to +12V constant.
All thick Red, Red/White and Red/Black fused wires should go to +12V constant.

Q: from the last alarm, viper 5900, I had power going to the brown wire in the harness for the starter wires,
I cant find info on what that wire is for and if it needs to wired to the remote start

A: Check your ignition switch harness. If it has an Orange and a Brown wire, verify they are both Accessory
type circuits with a DMM. Also ensure that there is no White Ignition 2 type wire. If that is correct,
set the Vipers Pink/White Flex output to Accessory and connect to the cars Brown ACC2 wire.

much thanks in both threads, however this was a mistake on my part...i used the previous spots for the a few wires ASSUMING it was the same.

turns out the old alarm was (+) for the parking brake while the new alarm needed (-)...felt like a dummy for not checking but it fired right up

tomorrow i;; go through and set the features how I want them

thanks again
