The all new lynx 2000 (the replacement for the aladdin a - 2000 or innotek), claims to be the best 2 way remote start alarm system. But how does it compare to the ever popular hornet 554t? I have never used the lynx so i don't know how good it is, but it sure has some really good features that the hornet doesn't have such as a turbo timer compatibility.

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

Everyone has their own opinion on various companies and their products.  djfearny2, how do you know that the Hornet is 10 times better if you have never installed or used one before ? I'm not saying that it is not 10 times better, but make sure that you have factual proof of such a claim before you post them. I have installed both before and to me they are equals on the playing field. Each has certain features that are not common and each have common features amoung them both. In the end it depends on what features you want and which you don't.

If you want to install the Hornet yourself, asy good bye to warranty. The Lynx 2000 system will be covered by the authorized dealer and the manufacturer. If you want the turbo timer feature it is great and can be set from 1 min. to 20 min.

For the most part, besides features, warranty, price, etc., an alarm is only as good as the installation. If properly installed, it will do all it claims to do (if not defective, obvioulsy). If installed poorly or incorrectly, it'll likely be known as a "POS", hence many poor opinions of any product.

Agreed! It's all in the install.

I've been doing DEI systems for years, and almost know the wiring by heart. I did a Mannix system for a friend, but it wasn't too installer friendly.
