I noticed the DBALL2 (and possibly 3) has a bug that disables OEM remote starting most of the time if you do a remote start on the DBALL2 on at least 08 GMC Sierras. If you don't use the DBALL2 for a few weeks and keep cycling the keyed ignition, the OEM remote start functionality eventually returns until you do a DBALL2 remote start again. Anyone have a tech contact to report this bug? Or better yet, is there a known workaround? I spoke with a Directed tech, and he said he's heard of this, but didn't sound like it was known to any of the engineers.

No really a tech contact, but they do have a feedback form here: https://www.directed.com/contact/feedback

Maybe it will get forwarded to the right person/people.

Hi, I have installed a lot of DBALL2 in GMC pickups and I never came across that issue. How was the installation done? Analog remote starter with DBALL2 connected in D2D or you’re in RSR?

Yes, analog aftermarket remote starter with DBALL2 connected in D2D (CAN highspeed, lowspeed, ignition, security transponder, etc.) The aftermarket remote starter and DBALL2 *always* starts the truck, but if I try to use the built-in OEM remote start, sometimes the truck won't start. It just flashes the headlights as if it's going to attempt a factory remote start, but doesn't start. It doesn't crank the starter or show a warning or anything. You may wonder why this bothers me since I have an aftermarket remote starter, which always works, but it's because sometimes I like to use the factory remote start which doesn't turn on the radio, and cranks the A/C or heat to high - something the aftermarket remote starter doesn't do.

Hi again, if I was you, I would unplug the D2D plug and leave all the others plugged in. That way, the DBALL2 isn’t interfering with your truck. Try the OEM remotes starter for a while, try to replicate the problem to see if it’s the DBALL2 that is interfering or its the OEM remote starter that is intermittent. My guess is the OEM remote starter that is the issue but it’s just a guess. I know for a fact that the OEM remote starter isn’t that reliable.
