Viper 5904 Remote Start Trouble Starting

I have had this alarm in my truck for a while and for the past 2 years it will start and shut off 3 times in a row. It is intermittent. Sometimes it works great and some days it will do this all day. Doesn't seem to matter what remote I use or if I use the app. 2010 Ford F150 Raptor.

How can I tell if I am running in Tach mode?

OK, I'm guessing you didn't do the install yourself. There are a few ways to deduce that you are
running in Tach Mode, like looking to see if the Vipers Tach wire is used and connected to a Tach
source but with a full featured bypass module running D2D Mode...
For me, the easy way to tell is with a BitWriter. But you probably don't have one.

Below are the full instructions for learning the Tach. Give that a try as silvercivicsir suggested.
It will aslo tell you if you are getting a Tach signal directly from the truck or via the bypass
module.

Learning the Tach (not needed with Virtual Tach)
To learn the tach signal:
1. Start the vehicle with the key. Within 5 seconds, press and hold the Control button.
2. After 3 seconds the status LED on your Control Center lights constant when the tach signal is learned.
3. Release the Control button.
Note: When the tachometer is programmed, the main unit automatically enters the Tachometer engine
checking mode.
Since this unit has the capability to learn the tachometer with the analog input or through D2D from an
interface module, the unit gives confirmation as to which source the unit has learned from. After learning the
tach and releasing the Control button, the system:
Flashes the parking lights once if programmed using the analog tach wire.
Flashes the parking lights twice if programmed using the interface module through D2D.

That might get everything fixed.

Does your truck have "one-touch starting"? That is where you can turn the key to the START
position and release it immediately and the ECM will continue to crank the starter motor until the
engine starts. If it does, you might be better off running in Engine Checking = Fixed instead of
Engine Checking = Tach. See the Option Programming Tables in the install guide for more info.

I just tried to learn the tach and the control light did not light up. I do have one touch starting.

With "One-Touch-Start" you could run in Engine Checking = Fixed and set a 1 second crank output.
These are options you can program yourself with the Viper remotes.

Also check the transponder bypass module connections. If you can catch it failing to start and stay running before its 3rd attempt put the key in the ignition but don't turn the key, if it starts then its definitely a bypass problem. Typically length of run time will tell you if its a bypass problem 1-3 seconds or a tach issue more than 1-3 seconds then shut off.
