I have a Directed Electronics 522T Trunk Release Solenoid Kit installed and it is blowing 20 amp fuses. It is supposed to work with 10 amp. What is going on with this? I'm using a push button switch.

Maybe the power wire is touching ground somewhere between the switch and the solenoid. Disconnect it and temporarily run a different wire and see if it still happens. If it doesn't then figure out if the wire is touching ground in the vehicle body somewhere.

I think the solenoid is "sticking" and that is why it blowing fuses. Does that sound right?

It’s a possibility. Was it working before and then started this issue? Is this being installed brand new?

I originally installed the it and the solenoid lost it's pulling force. So, this is a replacement, and now it is causing this problem. I can actuate the solenoid several times and then it will stick. That's when it blows the fuse.

Have you lubricated the trunk mechanism that it is trying to open?

Yes

Yes, what would make a solenoid "stick"?

Could just be a faulty unit. I'd try another new one. Return the current one if it has any type of warranty.

Only other thing I can think of would be if you had the switch tied into the keyless entry system. If you were wired directly to the keyless trunk output without using a relay to trigger it, it could be getting stuck on when popping the trunk from the remote.

In a solenoid there is a piston that the cable is attached to in your setup and this piston fits into a round tube. The piston sliding inside the tube may need to be lubed, or the tolerances are too tight preventing it from easily sliding inside the tube, or there may be some debris inside the bore locking things up.

If you do a google search for electric solenoid operation you can get an idea as to what is going on inside your trunk release solenoid.
