Hi guys. I have a Viliant RS-160 from IC Dynamics (given to me) I am wanting to install in my daughters Sebring convertible. I am not a pro, but also am not new to remote start installs (did 2 of my ZJ jeeps and a 99 Grand Am years ago). I just have a couple of questions.

First off, the car has a transponder key that was placed in the column so regular keys work to start it. I assume, but not positive, that I won't need a bypass module and can just connect the RS like I would with no security(i.e. like my ZJ) if I just leave the key there. Or do I need to but a bypass module that I can program with just one key?

Second, for the life of me I can't find a diagram for the single trigger door locks. I know it uses resistors, 1780 to lock and 730 to unlock (or there abouts depending on what source you get the info from), and will need relays but I can't find an actual diagram. I know the ZJ's were a real PITA, with 2 relays in each door. Is the Sebring going to be a similar pain? Or would it just be better in the long run to but a bypass that can control the locks and kill two problems at once.

I don't mind the challenge of getting it to work without a bypass if it is possible, except I just may be getting too old to be laying on the floor for that long.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

EDIT: I believe I figured out my lock dilemma. I believe it is as easy as using the diagram for Converting a Negative Trigger to Positive Output Diagram in the Relay Diagrams forum, then basically following the Dodge Caravan Type H wiring diagram with the resistors between the relay output and the door circuit (positive trigger instead of negative obviously). How close does the resistance have to be? I have seen multiple values listed (at least 4 different ratings between 1.6k to 1.8k and 680 to 820) while searching this. Do I just need to be close or can I use a couple of potentiometers and fine tune it? I have a project box and a perf test board lying around I can whip up the circuit pretty quick I believe.

If it's working now with the key in column, it's bypassed permanently (easier to steal), but it'll work.

Bulldog has a diagram:

Door locks look simple enough, just a positive trigger through a resistor, not multiple relays in each door.

Thanks geepherder. I must have been editing when you posted. Thanks for the bulldog tip. That was where I found the lock diagram for the ZJ and was racking my brain trying to remember what site I got it from. The RS only has negative lock triggers so I will have to use relays to go to positive. Appreciate the help.
