My car has an automate AM1 alarm. I'm trying to understand if all modern bitwriter computers can reprogram this alarm, or if a specific model is needed. Automate's tech support hasn't been helpful.

There are no authorized installers in my area. I found a viper installer who will tear the interior apart to get at the alarm brain and let me reprogram it, but unless I want to do this twice I've got to bring the proper bitwriter with me and reprogram it then, so I can't get the serial number off the brain beforehand.

This is the alarm that was installed in my car by the dealer in 2008: https://www.automatecarsecurity.com/Products/Automate/6000/AM1.aspx

The reason I'm trying to reprogram it is it's set to automatically lock the car and set the alarm 20 seconds after the car is unlocked or immediately when the door is shut. It's annoying.

Any help?

I could be wrong, but as long as it's the actual handheld Bitwriter, it should work. The XKLoader3 probably will not recognize it.
