Hello all.i have a 05 Silverado and avital 4103 remote starter that has worked perfect for 5 years.then wife wreckes it and it goes to the body shop.after we get it back it does not work right ,you have to have the remote within 5 feet of the truck for it work.so I bought another complete exact replacement to change it out so I would get the antenna and starter just in case it wasn't the antenna.antenna did not fix it.and when I swapped remote modules it will not unlock /lock or start and stay running.as if it has not got an immobilizer hooked up.swap back in original and all works fine(5feet range).do these immobilizers marry somehow to the remote starter or did I just get one that the data 2 data is not working and is broke.also any ideas what is causing my short range?thanks for looking

For the new antenna to work you will need to delete all remotes with old antenna first then replace antenna with new one
and pair old remotes to new antenna with old unit. Sometimes a power cycle of the main unit may also be required after deleting the remotes, remove old antenna pull power then connect new antenna and power back up pair remotes. Remote ids are stored in the main unit with a antenna id tag attached for each remote.

If you replace the entire system the main unit will need to be setup and tach learned just like the original was done the first time.

thanks for replying, its been 5 years since i put this in so i have forgot a thing or 2.after looking into your suggestions i came across a thread about switching the box to d2d for it to work.i have not tried that yet but am confident that will fix the communication problem.as for the existing remote it appears that it works flawlessly AWAY from home.so i come home and tried it again...nothing,so i went down and turned the main breaker off in the panel to the house so no electric is on and guess what .the darn thing works!!!we dont have cable, internet, surveillance cameras, and our closest neighbor(100 yards away)doesnt either.so im going to try process of elimination to see what is going on.i did buy a tv tuner for my computer since last month,so we will see if that has something to do with it.just thought i would update..thanks
