I purchased a iDataStart HC2 kit with the ADS-RSA-HC8 harness for my 2017 honda cr-v touring. It has a factory remote start that I practically need to be next to the car for it to function and I wanted to add a remote start with an RF remote so I purchased the HC2.

I tapped the S-Net, Parking Light and Light Off connections but did not connect the horn or install a hood switch yet. The rest of the connections are via the harness.

When I connect everything and try to do step one by just turning the car to the on position (hitting the start button twice), the car begins to initialize and then turns off. I see no activity on either LED on the idatastart module.

I am able to initially program the module using their weblink website.

Figured this would be a simple install but it's not turning out that way. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Does your car have the steering wheel lock?

did you cut the loop? if you didn't you might want to try cutting the loop, and "reflashing", or do a hard reset 1st.

Thanks for replying. Yes I did cut the loop on the module.

On the harness there is a small grey set of connectors. It matches up with a small module on the other side of the steering column. Is that the steering lock module?

I think so. The steering lock is where the Idatastart gets power from, so you need to hook it up.

Since I don't see any led's lighting up, I am going to try connecting the power and ground without plugging into the module. I can't find anything describing a locking column on the 17 touring. Thanks

It looks like I am plugging into the CAN Gateway Unit......I think I need to look around further for a column lock if it exists, otherwise I do the alternate wiring

I was able to install and get the OEM FOB to work properly. Thanks for the pointer of where the power is coming from. My car in fact does not have a column lock.

Next problem is that I can't program the remotes. If I disconnect and connect the antenna the LED's on the antenna blink but it won't do anything holding the button.

It's working! I was plugging into the telematics connector. Thanks for the assistance.
