could i get by just doing that or will i have wo rewire the whole system. i was thinking about cutting the wires form the old harness and splicing them to the new harness would this work, then adding my new options from there

Yes, that is exactly how you can do it. You can just cut the harness off the old alarm and use all of the installed wires like you mentioned. You will still be doing a complete install, but it will be literally less of a pain in the neck. You should still get a wire diagram for your car and test all of the wires before soldering your new connections to make sure that you are hooking up the correct wires. So basically all you are doing by using the previously installed wires is extending the factory wires so that they are closer to you so that you do not have to reach so far up under the dash. You also have to make sure that the connections that the previous installer made were soldered and taped well, otherwise you could run into reliability and safety issues in the future.
