Push To Start and Proximity Sensor Recommendations

Hi All -

My wife has a 2018 Highlander. I enjoy the convenience of being able to walk up to the vehicle and open the door without using the remote. Similarly, being able to keep the key in my pocket as I start the vehicle.

I know not everyone agrees, but the convenience is very beneficial to me.

My new vehicle, 2016 Nissan NV 3500, does not have any of those conveniences.

Can anyone recommend a push to start/proximity sensor unlock that I can install? I have done research, but I want to ask for your opinions.

Also, are there any "real" solutions for the steering wheel lock? Or only "hillbilly" solutions (e.g. cutting the handle off of a key, putting it in the ignition, etc.)

I've used Easyguard as it was the only one I could find at the time. I would rate it 7 out of 10, it did the job it was a little slow to recognizing the key as I walked up to the vehicle. The start feature worked flawlessly. The ones I've done in the past I would remove the steering wheel lock completely, drilling out the security bolts and removing it from the car.

I have had excellent results with Cardot PKE systems. The fob recognition is at least 2M when walking towards the vehicle. They have a version with a capacitive keypad that is adhered to the inside of the windshield so that you can unlock and drive the vehicle if you lose the fob.

By steering wheel lock, do you mean rotation lock - I thought that was discontinued 10 years ago?

The steering wheel lock I am referring to is when the steering locks until the key is inserted and turned.
