I have a 1968 chevelle, not sure if it's normally closed or normally open. Dont know which diagram to use.

Depends on your alarm:

If your alarm has a "when disarmed" output use the Normally Open diagram

If your alarm has a "when armed" output use the Normally Closed diagram

The normally open diagram is preferred if both are possible with your alarm as when someone tries to start the vehicle without disarming the alarm, the relay does not click and give away it's purpose and location behind/under the dash.

Key side of start wire to 30 and 86. Ground out from alarm to 85. Starter side of start wire to 87A

85 to alarm output
87 to ing switch
30 to starter motor
Is this correct?

Yes 86 to ignition switch HOT in RUN and CRANK wire
85 to alarm ground while disarmed*
87 to ignition switch START wire - ignition side of cut
30 to ignition switch START wire - starter motor side of cut

* the alarm MUST output a constant ground on this wire while the system is disarmed. A pulsed factory disarm or door lock unlock signal WILL NOT work.

What alarm has a ground when disarmed?

Malibu, what kind of alarm do you have?
