I just completed my first alarm install today.  It was on a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon.  Everything works perfectly except the door locks.  They now don't work at all, even after I disconnected the alarm from the door locks they don't work at all.  So, I obviously hooked something up wrong.  Probably blew a fuse I'm thinking but I couldn't find any blown fuses.  :errr:.  So does anyone know how the door lock system in these cars work??  Where should I look for a blown fuse?  What do I need to do to get the door locks working with the alarm?  Thanks.

BTW, the alarm is a DEI Viper 650VX.

The door lock system on the 2003 Hyundai requires you to use a diode and relay to operate it via remote control. Click the link below for a diagram and if you have any questions please post.....good luck !

Thanks a bunch guys.  I had a friend (the owner of the car) doing odds and ends while I was working on the car and he just figured out that he removed the fuse for the sunroof while I was working on the car.  Sure enough, the door locks are on the same curcuit.  posted_image  I'm gonna try to get the door locks working today.  I'll let you guys know how it goes.  Thanks a bunch.  posted_image

Velocity, I just connected everything the way your diagram says to and the door locks still don't work right.  With it connected like that the driver side door lock doesn't control the passenger side but the passenger side will control the driver side and from the remote the lock works but unlock doesn't.  posted_image  I just reconnected everything back to stock and now it all works like it's suppose to???  Am I missing something here??  Thanks.

ok, I figured out that I picked up the wrong relay. That's why the locks were working all weird.  I switched to the correct relay now (SPDT) and the stock locks now work fine, the doors lock when the alarm is armed but they don't unlock when you disarm it.  I gave up on it and put everything back together and what do you know, I goto test the alarm and the unlock works.  So we start the car, move it out of the garage and now it's back to how it was before.  Lock works but unlock doesn't?????  What's up with this thing?  Anyone have any ideas??

Maybe I shouldn't have picked an odd ball korean car for my first alarm install.  posted_image

Loose connection. Did you solder all connections ( even on the diode ) ?

Three words---Dump the Diode. I don't know why, but I tried for an hour and a half one time to get the door locks to work on a 2003 Hyundai Tiberon. I tried wiring it exactlyas the diagram stated, tried swapping out the diode for a different one, tried turning the diode around and nothing I tried worked. Until I scraped the diode. Then it worked beautifully. I haven't spent any time since then to figure out why the diagram wouldn't work for me, but I remember it did look like it was supposed to work. Please post one way or the other if it works for you or not. Good luck!

That's the only thing that I thought it could be (a bad connection) but that's VERY unlikely.  I soldered ALL connectionas for the keyless entry, both sides of the diode.  And I tested the diode afterwards and it works as it should.  I looked over everything 20 times and everything is as it should be and SHOULD work but it doesn't for some reason.  I don't understand why the diode would be a problem but I will try removing it and see what happens.  The thing I don't understand is how could it all of a sudden start working perfectly then stop again????  Anyway, I'll let you know how it goes.  Thanks a bunch guys.

Got to take another look at the car today and managed to get it working. I just added a second diode in parallel with the other one. I figured that the only thing stopping it from working was the high (around 600ohms) resistance of the diode so I added a second one to half the resistance and it works perfectly now. I was going to remove the diode but decided it would probably be safer to keep it in the curcuit. Thanks for all your help guys. posted_image
