2000 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab with 4.7.
I installed an Avital 4115L. All settings are factory default. When I hit the button to start the RS does not crank and continuously and rapidly flashes the parking lights until I press the brake pedal. I let it go like this for a few minutes to see if it stopped on it's own but it didnt. This isn't my first remote start install but this has me stumped. The wiring connections I made are as follows:
RS Vehicle
Heavy gauge harness
Red Pink/Black - constant
Red Red - constant
Pink Blue - ignition
Pink/White Black/White - ignition 2
Orange Black/Orange - accessory
Purple Yellow - starter
9 pin primary harness:
Black Ground
White Black/Yellow - parking lights
No other connection used for this harness.
5 pin remote start harness:
Brown White/Tan - brake switch
Gray Hood pin
Black/White Ground
Violet/White Black/Gray - ignition coil
(This unit has virtual tach, I made the connection in case I needed to switch to a hardwired connection.)
No other connections used on this harness.
I didnt use any of the other harnesses. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you verify function of each wire using a DMM before attaching to them?
I see starter as dark blue/yellow but you have yellow listed.
I see ignition 2 as green/red but you have black/white listed.
Do you need to disarm factory alarm? Is your horn currently working? Maybe the flashing lights is the alarm going off.

If you start with the key and then activate the remote start, are you able to turn off the key and keep the vehicle running?

The truck doesnt have an alarm system. The RS module clicks along with the lights which leads me to believe the issue is originating there. The colors you referenced arent correct. I've seen them listed before on Bulldog but I know from experience that they are off. I did check all the connections with a meter to confirm they were correct.

I did try something similar by starting the engine while the lights were flashing but it did not stay on when the key was turned off. I'll try starting the engine first and see if it makes a difference.

It didn't. I checked the ignition and accessory wires on the 6 pin harness after trying to start with the RS and there is no power except for the red wires.

I’d double check that you are connected to a good solid chassis ground.

just some advice, just because bulldog web site say its the right wire doenst mean it is. I find wrong wires on that site all the time. Even i (30 years tech) test every wire and know not to trust web site wire colors. Never use virtual tach, very unreliable. did you put the RS in automatic transmission mode? does it have the toggle switch that need to be plugged in?

Just an update. I pulled the module out of another vehicle of mine with the same model and put it in the Dakota. Fired right up. Looks like I got a bad module. Thanks for all the suggestions.
