I installed this on a 1991 4Runner 5 speed.
I need help diagnosing this code; remote start error 08. I understand this is tach sensing. I have tapped the black/yellow pin 18 from CN5 to the tach wire as explained in the manual to the tach wire off the igniter. I have about 4.2V (AC) at the igniter, the tachometer, and at the brain. I have programmed the remote, the tach has been programmed, and Reservation mode will set. However, when I try to remote start it, the relay in the brain will click 3 times but it will not try to engage the starter. Can anyone tell me what to check?

A few notes. The clutch switch seems to be negatively triggered, so I wired the relay:
86-12V (+)
85- ground when running (black wire-CN5)
87- clutch trigger
30- ground

I also wired in the external starter kill/anti-grind relay (CN1) per the instructions.

Can someone please help?

Thanks,
Chad

Update: I can remote start the vehicle if I remain in the truck, and press the clutch switch. So my interpretation of the clutch bypass was wrong.

Update again:
Just cracked the code.
I placed a diode in-line on the ground when running line. Took it out and now it remote starts!
