Hey everyone,

Reaching out for some help on this 2002 Subaru Forester I'm working on. I'm installing a Compustar 4900S, and I'm able to locate all wires except for the power lock/unlock wires.

All wire info I can find for this vehicle labels the lock wire as RED/WHITE and unlock as YELLOW/RED (at keyless entry module).   At the keyless entry module, I have no RED/WHITE and the YELLOW/RED at the keyless modules is not testing as an unlock wire.

Has anybody ran into this before? Is there another place I can grab lock/unlock? Not worried about retaining driver priority unlock. From what I've read, the factory keyless remote will not work while the vehicle is remote started, so I REALLY need to get this figured out. I plan to disarm the factory alarm system using the OEM remote and toss it in the glove box. Then hopefully use the Compustar remote for lock/unlock and of course remote starting.

Any input is much appreciated. Thanks!

Strange issue. Every wire listing I checked has the same wire colors, Red/White
and Yellow/Red. They are listed at the Keyless module but one source also shows
they can be found in the Driver Kick Panel. They will test as a (-) pulse.

In other Subaru models around that time the colors were White/Red & White and
White & Green/Red. I haven't done one in a while and don't have any photos saved.
Usually the wires were together on adjacent pins in one corner of the plug.

You can create a free account here:

Then you can pull up factory wiring diagrams of many different makes/models.

Under power locks, it shows lock as Y (yellow) pin 5 at the keyless entry contol module (under left side of dash). Unlock is listed as LG (probably light green- if not light grey) at pin 15 of the keyless entry control module.

Thanks for your replies kreg357 and geepherder.

This is exactly what I did. Luckily I have access to Identifix vehicle repair software which had listed power lock as pin 5 (yellow) and power unlock as pin 15 (light green). This info was accurate and and these wires worked perfect. I should note that the unlock wire in my case was light green/blue.

Here's an image of the connector and applicable pins.
