Hello all, working with a 2016 4Runner PTS and I need a magic bullet. I started with a Blade AL hardwired, getting 7 red flashes during programming, which indicates a problem with the RX connection. I checked and tested my soldered connection and found no issues. I then switched to a DC2 and t-harness, with the same result.

I was advised to check for evidence of an improperly removed OEM RS. I pulled the glovebox and disassembled pretty deep, couldn't find anything amiss.

Next I tried an Evo-All, which would actually program and (intermittently) control locks, but it won't even attempt to start. Fortin tech did tell me that the Evo would program, even without reading the RX properly, it just wouldn't start it, so I don't think I made any progress there.

Can anyone point me in a new direction to troubleshoot on this?

Try rolling back the firmware if there is any. Check the history of firmware. I had the same thing happened on 2016 Camry PTS but I removed the OEM remote start and that had solved the issue but rolling back the firmware might help.
