Having problem pairing my remote (7656v) to my Viper alarm system (5902v). The problem seems to lie in preparing the vehicle system for pairing.

The instructions from the manual for the 5902v system are as follows:

Prepare the vehicle system for pairing:
1. Open at least one of the vehicle’s doors.
2. Turn the key to the ON position.
3. Within five seconds press and release one time the Control but-
ton on the Control Center.
4. Within five seconds, press and hold the Control button. The sta-
tus LED will flash one time and the siren will chirp once to confirm
the system is ready for remote pairing.
5. Release the Control button and proceed to next step.

The problem is that I'm not getting any response from the control center, the LED never flashes.

I'm able to put the system into valet mode and then the LED lights up showing it's in Valet mode and of course I'm able to take it back out of Valet mode showing that at least I'm getting some sort of response from the Control Module. Is there some way of resetting the whole system. I've tried disconnecting the battery and letting it sit for a while but still get the same thing. Also I'm able to get the remote ready to pair following the steps in the guide. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

did you originally install the 5902? I have seen some cases where the door trigger was never hooked up. Might want to try ground out the door pin wire on the brain to see if that fixes the problem.
