The generic motor driven door lock actuator that is on the after market tailgate lock assembly of my Tundra pickup does not have enough travel (3/4") to consistently lock the tailgate. I can adjust it to either always lock or always unlock the tailgate, but not both.
Are there extended or long throw actuators (1" or more) available?

you could always try moving the actuator?

Thanks, but I actually need more travel from stop to stop in both directions, not just in one direction

You could try rigging up a lever system.

I have a Bell Crank idea in mind, but a longer throw generic actuator would make things very simple but they all appear to have 3/4" (20mm) travel.
I did find on someone who had laser print an extended rack to replace the original rack in one of these actuators ( https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1057723) but that's a little outside of the scope of what I need to do (and I don't have a 3d printer handy!)

How much room do you have available? How easy does the mechanism move? You could possibly build a simple lever system with a 1 to 1.5 ratio that would turn the 3/4 inch movement to 1-1/8 or so.
