Viper 4103XV, 2003 Toyota Sequoia, Just Cranks Unless Key In Ignition

I installed a Viper 4103XV in my 2003 Toyota Sequoia. I used XK05 and XK01 bypass modules (PKT2 and TOYDL).
All of the functions of the system appear to work but it only cranks when trying to remote start. With the key in the ignition (not turned to acc or on) it will remote start and once running, I can remove the key.
I let the XK05 program as per the manual.
I’ve checked all of the connections and everything looks good.

The XK05 says to “cut between” connections on the IMI wire. I cut the wire and connected violet to the IMI wire on the ECM plug side and violet/white to the IMI wire on the other side.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you sure the module is flashed with the PKT2 firmware? It might have the PKTI firmware on it.
The marking on the module only shows the firmware that was flashed at the factory. Anyone with
a XKLoader and access can change it...   

If it programmed proper with the correct indications you could try a module reset.
To RESET, press and hold button and plug in module. LED comes on. When LED goes off, release button.

I have an XK loader (no account) and plugged it in to confirm my modules had the correct firmware.
I tried performing a reset but it didn’t change anything.

I was looking at the Viper manual and it talks about the red D2D port being factory default to Bitwriter /ESP2. I have the XK05 hooked up D2D to the Viper and de-pinned the white/blue activation wire.
Would I need to ground out that wire in order to put it into D2D mode? And could that be the reason I’m having this problem?

That could be an issue. I vaguely remember something about that problem with older Viper / Avital units and having to manually switch them between D2D and ESP modes using the Activation wire to ground when the main power and ground is plugged in. Definitely worth a try. Short of that, going W2W is worth a try.

I re-pinned the activation wire and grounded it, setting it to D2D mode and it solved the problem!

Not sure if I’m allowed to add an additional question here but I have one more. I’d like to use the AUX button to drop the rear hatch glass (just like the factory remote). Anybody know the wire and where to access it that grounds when you turn the key to drop the rear glass?

Glad that worked for you. Unfortunately I have no sources that list the rear glass wire.
You could see what color it is at the lock cylinder and hope its the same color in either
kick panel and test for it there.
