Hi guys

Found this forum after much googling so hopefully someone can help!

I have a viper 480XV installed to my car right now, however the siren has died so i bought a new one off of amazon. The new one has 4 wires coming out of the back
Red - positive
Black - negative
Blue - negative trigger to alarm
white - positive trigger to alarm

the vipers loom i cut only has three wires which i assume are
red - positive
black - negative
orange - ????

When i connect the white to the orange the alarm goes off constantly, the instructions for the new siren say just to tape up the blue wire so i did that, am i missing a trick with the viper alarm? I've armed and disarmed from the fob but it made no difference and on the back of the siren is a key you can turn to on and off position which makes no difference when wired up

I've checked the viper alarm manual and it didn't help for this model

Looks like the replacement siren needs a connection to +12V Constant (Red ) and Chassis Ground ( Black ).

It can be triggered with either a (+) or (-) signal input. The Viper system only has a (-) Horn Output. That is the
Brown wire at H1/8. This is the wire you should connect to the sirens Blue wire. The sirens White wire is not used
in your situation. If there is any documention with the siren, verify that the Blue wire does not draw more than
200mA current. If it does, you will need a relay to control the siren and protect the Viper.

Additionally you should program the Viper for a continous Horn output. See Menu 3 Feature 1 to Option 2.

Hey Kreg

Thanks for the reply i'll give this a shot tomorrow!

I noticed another issue with my car today (i haven't driven it its been parked in my garage for a few months due to bad weather) with the battery disconnected

For some reason i need to press the unlock button again after disarming it (before the auto immobilise function begins) to get the car to start, hopefully this sequence explains it better

Sit inside car
press unlock to disarm alarm
key into ignition to start the car
turn
nothing
press unlock
turn
car fires up

Did i accidently enable a menu or something? It didn't do this before

Not sure about that issue. I'm not a Viper Alarm system guy.
But check programming on Menu 2 Feature 14. That could be your problem.
