Hello,

just bought a Viper 4105V for adding a keyless entry to my existing power locks + trunk release. No need for remote start, blinking lights etc - I just want remote control for entering the car. However, figuring out the basics for the wiring has proven to be somewhat challenging. After searching the net did not prove clear answers, I ask for assistance:

1. Could you confirm that the correct wires for locking are GREEN for locking and BLUE for unlocking? These are attached to a separate small connector without any other wires, just these two.
2. The trunk release is ORANGE (satellite harness with four wires), as I want to use aux-button. I will use this to activate a relay, which in turn will activate the trunk release solenoid. Correct?
3. How do I feed the main unit power? From a quick reference install guide I've learned that the ground is main harness nine pin 8 (BLACK). But where's the +12v input for the box?

The car is Porsche 944S2 from 1990, nothing complicated from that perspective - I know the correct wires and locations, but this Viper box is puzzling. I've installed a keyless entry for an old W201 Mercedes a few years back, and it was very easy. I thought that Viper would not prove any more difficult, but somehow I'm puzzled with the basics now;).

Thank you in advance,

Marko

The locks are negative output only on the 4105V the trunk is also negative out but it is the red/white wire. The 12v input is on the harness with the large wires. Hope that helps

Thanks for your reply, cpalmer!

Locks confirmed, for the trunk I though about using AUX - thus satellite harness orange wire, negative out.

However, I'm still somewhat puzzled with the basic +12v in. I do not have "a harness with large wires", I suppose it is missing from my package. So, I have to improvise: based on this wiring diagram, do you mean "Remote start, 6-pin connector" pins 1 & 3?

Best,

Marko

Yep sounds like you're missing that plug, that is where the unit pulls main power from. As far as trunk release, the orange accessory you are looking at is for remote start, to power on an accessory circuit for the car. You want to use the red/white wire on the main harness labeled trunk release.

Thanks again, cpalmer!

I still have to figure out how to power this thing up - and I feel somewhat stupid as I do not find the pin for constant +12v in this diagram. Could you point it out for me?

Thanks in advance again,

remote start 6 pin., Pin 1 and pin 3. These are bigger wires. Do you have the 6 pin plug with large wires? 12 gauge wires , i think.

You don't need the harness. Use .250 female tab insulated connectors. The power input is probably pin 1. If you're not using the remote start, you don't have to power both pin 1 and 3, but it won't hurt if you do. In the diagram above, Pin #1. is the Top Right. Pin #3 is Bottom Right.

You should also run a wire from switched Ignition (Pretty sure this is Circuit 15a in German) to pin #6, Bottom Left. This input disables Aux output when key is ON.
