I installed a directed 4x10 in this 2006 hummer h3 a few months ago and it successfully programmed with no issues. Lock and unlock on the 4x10 work fine also. The one weird thing with this vehicle was during the remote start sequence the horn would honk 4 or 5 times prior to remote starting. The vehicle ALWAYS remote starts 100%. Now however, sometimes when trying to start the car regularly with the key, the security lock light keeps flashing and the car will crank but never turn over but remote starts the car fine. If the car is armed now with the 4x10 and remote started, the horn honks 5 times and used to shut off just before the remote start but since the customers battery died the alarm goes off during the remote start sequence. Is there some sort of factory reset or program sequence on the passlock or on the 4x10?

I would check that the "unlock before and relock after R/S" is still set on the 4x10. Without this, the alarm will trigger with a R/S. It might have lost this setting when the battery died.
I'm not a DEI user, so I'm not positive if the 4x10 has that programming option ( and I don't have access to the 4x10 Install Guide ) but other bypass module manufacturers control the Factory Alarm system with this method.

The key start issue is probably not related to the 4x10. It's possible that the H3's Passlock2 resistor in the ignition switch is changing value and not being accepted consistently. This is pretty common with older Passlock2 systems. The 4x10 probably bypasses the Passlock2 via Data and always works fine. Again I'm not a DEI user but most bypass modules bypass the Passlocl2 system via Data and the J1850 connection.

Soldering is fun!

Thanks for the help, went into the 4x10 config menu and turned on Safelock(disarm/unlocks before remote start and locks after starting). I could have sworn i set it but for some reason it was set to off by default. From what I understand is that when the car remote started while the passlock system was active/armed it detected a unusual start sequence and put the car to go into "Tamper Mode" which makes you unable to start the vehicle for 10 minutes with the key.
