My older car, '86 Volvo 240, originally had just central locking. I recently installed an alarm system (latest version Viper 3105V) so I could control the locks via a key fob. This required me to install an actuator in the driver door.

Everything worked perfectly for weeks until...

I needed to remove the alarm brain to check the wiring and when I unplugged the harnesses to it I did not remove the inline alarm fuses first. Only afterwards did I remember reading in the install guide to make sure not to have the fuses in while plugging and unplugging the harnesses. So still not even realizing this was an issue I put everything back together for the alarm and the alarm works but now my car power locks don't work anymore. They don't work via the alarm key fob or when they are pushed up and down by hand. When pushed up and down by hand they only lock/unlock the door that is being tested and they are harder to push up and down than usual.

Also since the locking issue started my car battery has been draining. I've needed to jump the car to get it started.

I checked the car and alarm fuses, they are all good. I hear one of the locking relays clicking and trying to engage, so I though maybe I blew one of them out. I bought two new ones, installed them, and the power locks still do not work.

Any ideas? I don't believe it's the alarm brain since it's still working as an alarm system, but I'm definitely not sure...

https://www.volvotips.com/service-manual/volvo-240/Volvo-240-wiring-diagrams-1985.html central locking starts on page 121. Isolate the added actuator wiring, disconnect harness from alarm, remove power/fuse. Test central locking. Key Cylinder and Lock/Unlock Knob. If system isn't operating properly, diagnose. Relays are wired with negative triggered coils. If system operates fine, test added actuator/wiring. Connect test light across actuator wiring. Reconnect power/fuse. Light should be off, as nothing is triggering relays. If on, something is triggering relay/s...check wiring. Reconnect alarm door lock harness. Light should be off, as alarm hasn't sent signal to lock or unlock. If on check alarm brain lock/unlock outputs (its plugged into the correct port right...the white one?) If the lock/unlock outputs show a ground, the module is bad.
Hope this helps
