Hi Folks! I am trying to install an engine kill but was wondering if any of you might be able to tell me which wires are which. I am looking for the wire that leads to the starter solenoid and what color it is and also the color of the wire that is 12v with the ignition switch in the 'on' and 'start' position. This is for a 97 cougar. It has the 3.8 if that makes a difference. One of the things that I have done to this car was to integrate a hands free system for my cell phone. I do not smoke so I chose to use the cigarette lighter hole and mount a speaker inside and drilled a small hole to the left of the ashtray (or atleast where it was) for the amplifier board and a small hole in the A pillar for the mike. If anyone is interested, I would be glad to send some pics. Thank you in advance!
Thank you for the quick response! I dont know if my car had or has an alarm on it or not. (just bought it) it had no keyless remote. Going on the premiss that it did not come with one then am I to asume that the Orange and Black (constant 12v) is my power when key is in both ON and START? Secondly is the wire TO the starter solenoid the RED / Blue that your reference shows? Thanx again.
You're welcome. The BLACK/ Orange is constant 12V+. The RED / Light Blue is actually going from the key to another relay that supplies 12V+ to your starter solenoid and can be used to interupt the starter if you want to prevent anyone from starting it with the key.

Many Thanx!!! Ill try it and see what happens.

OK, I found what seems to be a mass exodus under my dash. Though colorful, it freaks me out a bit. There are 3 wires that are blk/orange and one that is RED / lt blue. These wires are pretty thick compared to the others. Are they the right ones?? They are bundeled together. There isnt much slack either. Would it be a good idea to disconnect the battery first? Just wanted to ask before I start cutting. Thanx.
