I tried to install a Viper 5105V on Toyota 4Runner 1997. The remote starter activated and cranked but no start for 3 times and finally shut down. I tried switch to tach mode and tach wire from the alarm brain violet/white connects to black wire for tach signal on diagnosis connector in the engine compartment and already sucessful learned tach signal. I tried to use virtual tech, voltage, tach. Nothing work. When programmed in tach mode, the vehicle cranked longer but still not start. Please help

both ignitions hooked up? put the key in and turn it on but don't start it. try the remote start, does it start? if yes-would be a key cylinder wire

I connect both ignition wires. So what color is the key cyclinder wire and its location? I can't try it right now as the customer need the vehicle.

So what you mean it I turn the key to on position and press remote start and if it does starts then a key cylinder need to be connected? and to which wire on the alarm

If they still don't remote start with the ignition is on. Then what could be the problem? your help is greatly appreciated.

If you open the door and stick a key in the ignition do you get a reminder beep? If so, test the small wires at the ignition switch. Bulldog doesn't have a keysense wire listed for 1997, but on the later models (99-02), this wire is listed as yellow/red (negative):

Have you verified the ignition wires get power during a remote start attempt? No immobilizer, correct?

So the key sense wire will connect to which wire on the viper 5105V?
I haven't verified that yet but so to confirm for the ignition 2 wire from the alarm brain. I should use Heavy gauge Pink/white for ignition 2 and NOT pink black
There should be no immoblizer for this model but his starter in the car take a while to start while I cranked it with the key. So should I use the voltage mode and increasing the crank time
But I think that put it in tach mode should determine the cranke time itself. I noticed that it cranked longer in tach mode compare to voltage/virtual tach but no start.

I don't have the vehicle now to check and I have to do it over the weekend.

I will check the connection on the ignition wires make sure I have good connection. But missing one of the ignition wires will stop it from starting? And can you confirm this. Many thanks

If there is a negative key sense wire in the vehicle, you could connect it to a ground-while-running output (status output).

Yes, I'd verify both ignition wires with a meter at the ignition harness. Correct, pink/white.

I'd also verify tach signal and relearn with the engine warm. If that's good, I'd leave it in tach mode.

Yes, missing an ignition wire can keep it from starting.

Thank you
I will have to recheck both Ignition 1 & 2 with a meter to make sure it both got powered to the starter unit. And that might the root cause of the problem if one isn't powered.

Per wiring diagrams it said:

Black/Yellow as Ignition 1
Black/Yellow or Black Red as Ignition 2

On Alarm: Pink as Ignition 1 and Pink/White as Ignition 2

And does it really matter if you connect Ignition 1 as Ignition 2 and vice versa.

I don't pay much attention to ignition 1 or 2 as I never run into such a problem.

Is there a way we can identify Ignition 1 and 2 using DDM

As far as I know, the Viper outputs should test the same, so it won't matter.

With the 5105V, it is possible to program the thick Pink/White IGN2 wire to act as an Accessory wire. See Menu 3, Feature 6. Make sure it's set to the default, IGN2 setting because in the Accessory setting, the Pink/White wire will drop during engine cranking.

I rechecked the ignition wire. I made a mistake by connect the Pink/Black on the Viper to the ignition 2 wire. This is the root cause of the problem
It should be Pink/White on the Viper to Ignition 2 on the vehicle. It works like a charm after correcting it.
Thank you for all the help here. It is pretty odd that I make such a mistake as I have been installing many Viper alarms.
