I just put an old code alarm system (brand new) that I bought like 15 years ago. It’s a CA-425a master module with the CA-545 2 way alarm/remote start kit added. I didn’t really want alarm functions enabled but I don’t have any way to disable them apparently without the programmer tool. So I installed the remote start and keyless functions and the Pats bypass without issues. I did not hook up the horn or the songbird siren.

If I arm/lock with the remote after about an hour the lights start blinking and the 2 way remote starts making a bunch of noise. Since I did not hook up the horn or siren the truck itself is quiet during this. I figure maybe it’s being triggered by GEM but I’m not sure what I need to connect to avoid it triggering the Code Alarm system. Any of you folks that used to install these systems know what I need to connect? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Thanks, Steve G

Okay I think I found my issue. Since I wasn’t going to use the alarm portion of this system I wasn’t going to bother wiring up the separate driver and passenger door trigger wires. Then I saw in the manual that I needed the door trigger in order to program remotes. So I wired up just the driver door and never diode isolated it. So when GEM went in battery saver mode, the alarm saw the false trigger. So I snipped and taped up that wire for now which I think should prevent it from happening.

Door trigger isolation
