2017 Nissan Sentra w/Regular Key, Remote Start Install Problem - FYI

Sharing some info from a recent install...

The car was a 2017 Nissan Sentra regular key ( not PTS ) with Automatic Transmission and Factory Alarm. This was a basic R/S with a one button system. System used was a APS901E with a Fortin EVO-ALL bypass module flashed with Ver 72.37 firmware.   The issue encountered is not R/S or bypass module dependent.

Everything was normal during the install but after many ( 6+ ) remote start tests, the engine check light came on with a P0615 code. While not mentioned or indicated on the EVO-ALL install guide or any other bypass module manufacturers install guide for any of their products including EVO-ONE and iDatalink/iDatastart products, this issue will happen on these regular key 2016 - 2019 Sentra's. Omega does include a note about the issue as follows : Starter wire must be powered by an external relay to prevent a check engine light from being triggered.   This is a little vague being all R/S units have a separate internal relay that powers the Starter output.

While somewhat obscure, there is a WEB site* that supplies a lot of good info for installers. It is mostly iDatalink units but very valuable information can be found there. For the 2017 Sentra w/ regular key it had this note at the bottom of the page : Sentra (standard key) 2016+ : You must relay isolate starter wire on this vehicle to prevent check engine light upon remote start! Installers have reported even if check engine light doesn't trip in testing with starter wire hooked up direct, it will eventually happen so you must isolate starter wire.

This info was better concerning the necessary R/S wire corrections. I added an external 30/40 amp SPDT relay wired as shown below to isolate the vehicles ignition switch from the R/S's Starter wire connection.
Relay Pin 85 to Chassis Ground
Relay Pin 87a to ignition switch side of cut vehicle Starter wire
Relay Pin 30 to vehicle side of cut Starter wire
Relay Pins 86 and 87 to R/S Starter output

After the wiring modification the CEL was cleared. Then about 15 R/S tests were performed. No engine check light and none pending. There have been no reported issues from the customer since the install.
