I'm trying to decide between these two systems...  the two are very similar in features and operation, so my next thing to base my decision on is aesthetics.  The two way remote of the Hornet is supposedly back lit and "pretty cool" according to directed's websight.  Lynx on Velocity's site doesn;t mention backlighting I don't think.  So after my rambling, which is the easier to use/better backlit/more aesthetic remote?  I know, dumb question, but hey, might as well ask, right?

I'm more interested in the hornet because of some of the features directed adds to it's alarms like failsafe starter kill, anti-grind others have similiar features but I think the hornet has the best combo of everything I want for what I can afford, but anyway.

The Lynx 2000 does have a backlight according to https://asianwolf.com/generic18.html

That site also sells the 554t so if you want yet another place to compare their features try https://www.asianwolf.com/HORNET554TINFO.html

That site also claims in their FAQ the 554t is their 'best alarm' I don't know if they've updated it since the lynx is supposed to be newer than the 554t (I think) so I don't know if that claim is still accurate according to them anyway.

The remotes coolness/aesthetic to me comes down to your preference, I'd look at the two remotes size, shape, color, buttons, screen graphics/icons to choose (if that's your last deciding criteria).

The 554t is slightly smaller like 1/2 inch than the lynx's, the 554t comes with a 2nd remote. Buttons all look well recessed to prevent accidental pressing while in your pocket and the screen 'seems' to be recessed to prevent pressure that might crack or damage the lcd, also it has 5 buttons.

The lynx looks thinner and a bit sleeker differs than the typical remote.  I personally don't like the litte yellow road on it but that's me :).  The lynx also appears to show you whether a light impact or more serious impact was detected by the shock sensor.  Buttons are recessed but I only see 3 in the picture, the screen looks slightly larger and seems to be recessed but not as much as the 554t 'seems' to be.  I'm going by the pictures so my 'seems' is the best I can do.

As I said I like the 554t, I personally don't like the look of the lynx's remote too much some graphic icons look good/cool but overall I like the more traditional design of the 554t's remote.  Anyway that's my two cents and some facts, check out that site's pictures of the two remotes and their features, though it doesn't seem to have too much info on the lynx's specs.

Good luck in whatever you choose.

Okay,

Question for you installers out there.  Is the Hornet 554T easier to install than the Lynx 2000?  This will be a self-install (by myself, which I do hold an Electrical Engineering Tech. Bach. Degree) and I just want to see how difficult an alarm could be to install.  I have a '95 Camaro Z28.  Thanks

I beleive the Lynx 2000R is easier ( but I have done over 30 of these ). The wiring is very basic and the programming is basic with everything done through the remote control.

both of them does the same stuff, so i dont think theres a comparison. just look at the manual and learn how a relay work. i believe thats all you need to know, it doesnt take any degree to know how to plug and chug. there will be a lots of wires, dont be intimidated, a lots of them you probably dont even use nor average user would ever use.
