Subject: Security Light On After Remote Start, 2007 Saab 9-7x, Compustar 4900s

Hello all,

I've been searching for a couple days and haven't been able to find any solution for this. The only thing I've found is I might need a relay or resistance somewhere.

I have a Compustar 4900s with the Expresskit GMDLBP Bypass Module. It's on a 2007 Saab 9-7x.

Any time I use the remote start, the security light stays on until I turn the car off. It doesn't trigger the alarm or anything but it is annoying.

When I insert the key after turning on the remote start the security light will stay on. Once I have hit the brake or turned the key off to kill the engine, I can restart it just fine and the security light stays off like normal.

It might take me a while to dig up the wiring connections I used. I wrote them down when I first did the install, but i can post them if need be.

Any ideas?

Did you power the Brown (+) ACC2 wire and the Keysense (-) wire?
Those wires are required for a R/S install.

Accessory2     Brown (required) (+)..........@ ignition switch, black 12 pin plug, pin 12
Keysense     Light Green (required) (-)....@ ignition switch, black 12 pin plug, pin 4

I'm positive I wired the Keysense wire, but I'm not sure on the Accessory2 wire. Seeing as they're both required I might have connected them to the wrong wires.

Which wires do those connect to on the Remote Start module?

Thanks!

The CM900 module can directly handle the vehicles Starter, IGN1, IGN2 and ACC1 wires. You will need a relay for ACC2. Unfortunately with the CM900 you need to re-assign a couple POC's to supply the low current (-) Accessory output for the ACC2 relay control and also another (-) Status Output signal for the (-) Keysense wire. The Black wire (-) Status Output is already being used by the bypass module ( although with some 1N4001 diodes you could have done both with this one wire ).

ACC2 relay
Pins 86 and 87 to +12V constant through fuse
Relay Pin 85 to CM900 (-) Accessory Output ( re-assigned POC )
Relay Pin 30 to Saab Brown ACC2

No wonder my car isn't right. You would think the CM900 manual would note something about that.

Any relays you recommend?

When I get home this evening I will get my install notes and list all the connections I made just to make sure they are correct.

Thanks again!

Standard Bosch style 30/40 Amp SPDT relays with a 5 wire harness are the most commonly available. Amazon has a two pack for $7. Some auto parts stores might have them, too.

The CM900 install guide is pretty vehicle generic. It can support all types of vehicles and their specific needs. It's the POC re-assignment procedure that usually causes install issues. I use the OP-500 programmer to do this but I believe it is also possible with the ADS USB cable and the WebLink application.

So I will have to reprogram the CM900?

That's a little more than I was anticipating time and budget wise, so I might have to wait on it.

Is there any way to avoid the POC re-assignment?

its not the remote start its the car. with RS being universal it doesn't know what kinda car its going into, plus its in the GM era saabs. I've done one saab in my 30+ yrs career and told my self ill never do another, and I haven't since late 90s
directech say this

Accessory 1 can be connected with brown accessory 2 just use 2 diodes to isolate
Ignition 3 can be connected with white Ignition 2 just use 2 didoes to isolate
ignition 1 is pink standard hook up
starter is yellow standard hook up
key sensor is lt. green (-) standard hook up from status output from remote start
wires colors are the factory colors not the RS

It's not a traditional Saab, just a Trailblazer/Envoy/Rainier with a Saab logo. I'm sure you've done a bunch of those. I've never used diodes so I'm not sure how those get wired.

you should try putting a RS in a a older one with the universal key in a box bypass module, stuff of nightmares lol. Saabs and Volos hate me. doesn't matter what I'm doing to them they fight me from begin to end

I'm a little confused on the wiring with the diodes. This route would avoid having to program the CM900 correct?

Accessory 1 (CM900 CN1 Pin 4?) [WHITE] to Accessory 2 (9-7x) [BROWN]
Ignition 3 (Where is Ignition 3?) to Ignition 2 (9-7x) [WHITE]

How do 2 diodes connect to 2 wires that connect to each other? Apologies for my cluelessness.

Accessory 1 is on the CM900 correct? Where is Ignition 3? I don't see it listed in the CM900 manual.

Ok, I see about the diodes. I was confused why you would tie two together on the same wire.

So how would the wiring be with the 2 sets of diodes? Just making sure I have this right.

just like a y adapter. wire coming from the RS brain goes to the 2 diodes same end then the other side of the diode goes to the accessory 1 wire and the send diode goes to the accessory 2 wire

Here is how I would do it with the CS4900-s w/ CM900-s controller and Expresskit GMDLBP Bypass Module without having to change any CM900-s POC's. You will need a couple 1N4001 diodes and a couple 6 Amp diodes.

The main ignition harness connections will be made at the switch in the center console. It is a Black 12 Pin plug.

CN1
Pin 1 Red - Constant 12V...........................................Orange (30A) (+)....@ trailer brake pre-wiring on harness going thru driver firewall *
Pin 2 Green/White - (+) Parking Lights............................Not Used
Pin 3 Red/White - Constant 12V....................................Orange (30A) (+)....@ trailer brake pre-wiring on harness going thru driver firewall *
Pin 4 White - Accessory 12V positive (+)..........................split wire with 6 Amp diodes, bands away from CM900-s - diagram below
Pin 5 Blue - Programmable Output...set jumper to IGN.....White (+)...........@ ignition switch, Black 12 pin plug, pin 10
Pin 6 Yellow - Starter 12V positive (+)...........................Yellow (+)..........@ ignition switch, Black 12 pin plug, pin 11
Pin 7 Green - Ignition 12V positive (+)..........................Pink (+)............@ ignition switch, Black 12 pin plug, pin 5
Pin 8 Black - Ground negative (-) input..............................Chassis Ground
* Change CM900-s fuses to 15 Amp fuses
Accessory 1 = Orange (+) @ ignition switch, Black 12 pin plug, pin 7
Accessory 2 = Brown (+) @ ignition switch, Black 12 pin plug, pin 12

For the Keysense wire you will use the CM900-s Black (-) GWR (Status Output) wire. It is already being used to control the GMDLBP bypass module so 1N4001 diodes are needed to provide isolation.
CN3
Pin 4 Black - [POC 4] (GWR) 250mA latched (-) output.......wire as per diagram below
Keysense....Light Green (-)....@ ignition switch, black 12 pin plug, pin 4
GMDLBP......Brown (-)..........Status Input wire

This is amazing.

It turns out I didn't have the ACC2 (brown) wire connected to the CM900 after going through my notes.

Thanks for all the help!

Here's a list of the connections I made into one page. It didn't copy very well from word so please excuse the weird format. I believe I had the Factory Disarm wire from the CM900 connected at one point to the GMDLBP but that was causing issues so I put it back to normal. Not having the ACC2 wire connected might explain why my starter went out last summer. Have you seen the ACC2 wire not connected cause that?

9-7x Wiring -> CM900 & GMDLBP

1.     9-7x - Orange – 12v (30A) [+Trailer Brake Harness]
a.     CM900 – CN1 Pin 1 – Red
b.     CM900 – CN1 Pin 3 – Red/White
c.     GMDLBP – Red

2.     9-7x - Light Blue – Brake Wire [+ Trailer Brake Harness]

Possibly. Here is the note about the ACC2 wire.
Must be powered up. If not, the vehicle will crank as soon as it sees ignition.

I don't use GMDLBP bypass modules, so I don't know if this will solve the Security Light issue. Proper Keysense control might.

If you want the R/S to control the Parking Lights, here is the info :
Parking Lights (-)......Brown/White (-).......@ steering column junction connector, Black 48 pin plug, pin E7
CM900-s   CN3 Pin 1   Green/White (-) Parking Light Output

Ah good. I had that connected already.

I have to order the 6 amp diodes but I’ll get this all setup once they’re here. Do I need to reset the CM900 or bypass module? Just making sure.

CM900-s should be OK. The GMDLBP factory default is Type 1 and if it programmed to the Saab OK it should be fine after you feed the diode isolated GWR signal to the Brown wire.

Everything is working correctly now. The keysense wire wasn't hooked up to the remote start at all.

Well I remote started this morning, and the security light was on, and stayed on when I put the key in. This is crazy.

The other day it was on until I put the key in, then it shut off. I assumed that is how it's supposed to work, but now I'm not sure at all.

When making the connections, I triple checked and soldered them.

Any ideas?
