Hello I’m trying to add a switch to my aftermarket actuator. I have a compustar alarm/ remote starter. I have keyless entry by adding the aftermarket 2 wire actuators. When I wired the switch, a 7 wire switch , it works for a few times then blows the fuse from the added fuse box I added for my accessories. If I disconnect the actuator from the harness that I made to go to the alarm/ remote start brain, the fuse does not blow. Do I need to add a diode to keep it from blowing? If so where do I add it?
Thanks
Need more information. What compustar do you have? What aftermarket actuator? Does it (actuator) have a module or relay setup that goes with it? How is everything wired up/do you have a wiring diagram of your connections?
You don't need a diode but you do need to have things wired correctly so that things work without having a direct short condition which is what is blowing your fuse.
CM7000AS, 2 wire actuators.
CN5 Pin 5 Blue/Light Green Lock 250mA (-) Negative output fort pulse for locking doors to pin 86 of Actuators/Reverse Polarity relay setup
CN5 Pin 7 Blue Unlock 250mA (-) Negative output for pulse unlocking doors to Pin 85 of Actuators/Reverse Polarity relay setup
Switch is 7 wire Recoil LAS2 DPDT 20A 12V DC Motor Polarity Reversing Momentary Rocker Switch with Pigtail Wire Actuator Up/Down Blue LED

You can't use that relay setup with that switch directly controlling the actuators. You either need two additional relays wired like this
https://www.the12volt.com/relays/relaydiagram2.html or you need to rewire the switch to control the relays and not the actuators - Pin 2+5 to negative, Pin 1 to relay alarm (-) unlock output wire, Pin 6 to relay alarm (-) lock output wire, no jumpers.
