Hi All,
I'm installing a Viper 5706V on a 2007 Mustang V6 and would like to know if I need to add a 2 ignition to my install in order to get the remote start working. The vehicle OEM wiring only has ignition 1 and the Viper remote start module has the factory menu option listed as "Ignition 2" under the Flex Relay Function. Thanks in advance!

Your 2007 Mustang has only one Ignition wire. As such the Viper IGN2 (Pink/White) wire will be unused.

What are you using for the transponder bypass?

I'm using the idatalink ALCA. I can hear the electronics engage but no engine crank over when I hit the remote start.

A few thoughts...

What was the firmware flashed on to the ADS-ALCA?

Are you going D2D or W2W between the Viper and the ADS-ALCA?

Did the ADS-ALCA program as per the Programming Instructions?

It might help if you listed all the Viper connections, especially the 10 Pin Main Ignition harness ( the Red and Red/Black must be connected to +12V Constant).
Below is a Viper wire list to use.

Viper 5706

Main Harness, 6-pin connector
1 RED (+)12VDC CONSTANT INPUT
2 BLACK (-) CHASSIS GROUND
3 BROWN (+) SIREN OUTPUT
4 WHITE/BROWN PARKING LIGHT ISOLATION WIRE - PIN 87a of onboard relay
5 WHITE PARKING LIGHT OUTPUT
6 ORANGE (-) 500mA GROUND WHEN ARMED OUTPUT

Door Lock, 3-pin connector
1 BLUE (-) 500mA UNLOCK OUTPUT
2 EMPTY NOT USED
3 GREEN (-) 500mA LOCK OUTPUT

Remote Start, 10-pin heavy gauge connector
1 NC No Connection
2 RED/BLACK (+) FUSED 12V ACCESSORY/STARTER INPUT
3 PINK/BLACK (+) FLEX RELAY INPUT 87A key side (if required) of FLEX RELAY
4 PINK/WHITE (+) IGNITION 2 / FLEX RELAY OUTPUT
5 RED (+) FUSED 12V IGNITION 1 INPUT

3 RED/WHITE (-) 200mA TRUNK RELEASE OUTPUT
4 BLACK/YELLOW (-) 200mA DOME LIGHT OUTPUT
5 DARK BLUE (-) 200mA STATUS OUTPUT
6 WHITE/BLACK (-) 200mA AUX 3 OUTPUT

What was the firmware flashed on to the ADS-ALCA?

ADS-AL(TB)-FM2 v3.22

Are you going D2D or W2W between the Viper and the ADS-ALCA?

D2D (Also noticed no led flashing during remote start)

Did the ADS-ALCA program as per the Programming Instructions?
Yes and used KLON since I only have one key

It might help if you listed all the Viper connections, especially the 10 Pin Main Ignition harness ( the Red and Red/Black must be connected to +12V Constant).
Below is a Viper wire list to use.

Looks like the main issue is the firmware on the ADS-ALCA. If you want to go D2D you must use the DBI flavor of FM2 firmware. Refresh and reprogram, then see what happens.

Hi again,
Flashed module with DBI flavor of firmware but and reprogrammed successfully. Still not working though. I can hear the electronics engage but nothing cranks. I also checked the violet wire on the R/S heavy harness during remote start and it shows +12 volts but only for a couple of seconds then goes to 0.

First thought, as not mentioned previously...

Does the Mustang have a Manual Transmission? - Clutch Bypass

It shouldn't attempt a R/S ( bring up IGN or put +12V on the Violet Starter wire ) if you are in M/T Mode or the Parking Brake isn't on...

Any Parking Light codes flashed after a failed R/S? You might have to do the "Remote Start Shutdown/Startup Diagnostics" procedure to get the error code.

"Does the Mustang have a Manual Transmission? - Clutch Bypass"

Its an automatic and have switched the feature to automatic.

"It shouldn't attempt a R/S ( bring up IGN or put +12V on the Violet Starter wire ) if you are in M/T Mode or the Parking Brake isn't on..."

Parking brake on.

"Any Parking Light codes flashed after a failed R/S? You might have to do the "Remote Start Shutdown/Startup Diagnostics" procedure to get the error code."

None. I'm stumped.

A few possibilities.

The easiest is to disconnect the D2D harness ( either end ), put a working ignition key into the ignition switch ( fully inserted but not turned ) and try a R/S. If this works you could omit the D2D harness and go W2W making the +12V, Chassis Ground and GWR ( Status Out ) connections directly.

Another thing to triple check is the cut Starter wire and the two ( Green & Purple ) Viper wire connections. Make sure they are not reversed. As a test you could temporarily jump the cars Starter wire together again and try a R/S.

Did you do a Tach Learn successfully? Did you manually Program the Viper to Tach Mode?

Any "Security" type lights on the instrument cluster during a R/S?

Finally, follow the Viper Install Guide directions for Shutdown Diags.
To perform shutdown diagnostics:
1. With the ignition Off, press and hold the Control button (on Control Center).
2. Turn the ignition On and then back Off while holding the Control button.
3. Release the Control button.
4. Press and release the Control button. The status LED flashes to report the last
shutdown for one minute or until the ignition is turned on, as shown in the
following table:
Status LED Flashes Shutdown Mode
1 flash Runtime expired
2 flashes Over-rev shutdown
3 flashes Low or no RPM
4 flashes Transmitter shutdown (or optional push button)
5 flashes (+) Brake shutdown
6 flashes Hood shutdown
7 flashes Timer mode/Turbo mode/Manual mode error *
8 flashes Neutral safety shutdown
9 flashes Low battery (voltage mode)
10 flashes Alarm triggered **
11 flashes Wait-to-start input timed out

Hi,
Thanks for all of your help thus far! I'll try those recommendations. The remotes also randomly pairing from the alarm module. Any idea why this happens?

Thanks,
Rick

I checked again and had them reversed. R/S now working but shuts off within a few seconds sometimes. Waited and tried again and started and stayed on until manually shut it down. On virtual tach at this point. The 2 way remote also doesn't get the warning status when the alarm is going off so not sure why that doesn't communicate. I'll keep poking at it.
