Subject: 2021 Toyota Tacoma, Doesn’t Start When Using T13 Compustar Remote

I just bought and installed the following alarm system from Compustar in my 2021 Tacoma; FT-CMX-HC Start It Controller, TF-Alarm Kit, Blade-AL Bypass, 2WT13R-SF LCD Remote, FT-DASII (multi-sensor) and FTI-TLP3 Installation T-Harness. I flashed the module and the controller and programed the T13 (Remote). Almost everything is working properly. I can use my original FOB to perform everything, however when I’m using the T13, I can do everything but start the truck and drive away. When I’m in the truck, with just the T13, and hit the PTS button the truck doesn’t start. It only starts when using the original FOB. I checked every connection and are like as per the diagrams and instructions. Does anyone know what I’m missing? Do I need to program something in the module?

I misunderstood. I thought you meant it would not remote start with the remote.

The remote start simulates a factory key only during remote start, so it doesn't replace it completely. You still need your factory fob unless I'm not understanding correctly.

I understand what you’re saying, but based on what I read, I think that I can replace the original FOB with the Compsutar’s ones. Not just for the remote starting, but for the regular use as well.   It doesn’t make any sense having to carry two FOB’s at the same time. I did the installation by myself, because I didn’t want to spend a ton of money on it. It was basically plug and play. I tried to contact Compustar directly, but they “lawyered up” because of the warranty and the responsibility for damaging to the truck. They are trying to direct me to an authorized dealer. I will contact an authorized dealer to ask them a “hypothetical” question about this situation and see the answer.
