Hi all -- I've got a Compustar DC3 hooked up to remote start my 2006 Subaru Forester XT. Originally, I intended to keep using the factory keyfob, and just use the remote start fob occasionally to start it at home on cold mornings. (I have the later Legacy key that has the fob built into the key body -- I'd rather not carry another fob if I can avoid it.)

I discovered that the OEM alarm needed to be disabled, as there isn't any way to arm / disarm for starting it without the oem keyfob button presses. No problem -- I figured I'd just use the DC3's built in alarm function. But now I'm running into a roadblock in that I can't see any way to arm / disarm the DC3 security system from the factory keyfob. I'd hoped that it would see the lock / unlock signals running through the immobilizer bypass module, as the remote lock/unlock on the Compustar fob would trigger what sounded like the OEM keyless entry chirp. But once I enabled the alarm function, the Compustar fob button presses are now silent. (I can't be sure I didn't change something on the lock/unlock feedback during the several times I've monkeyed with the options.)

Does anyone know if the DC3 module can be configured with analog inputs for arm / disarm? (fed from the door lock / unlock wires)   I called Compustar, but the guy I talked to wasn't any help. He said an authorized installer should be able to do it for me, but when I said there wasn't an obvious option in the Weblink / ADS software, he said maybe you can't do that on the DC3. It didn't sound like he had any technical knowledge, so I figured I'd ask here if anyone had any first hand experience with a problem like this.

No. Not with the DC3. See here: https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/file.asp?ID=1495

This is possible with other Compustar models but you have to use a shock sensor port and reconfigure it for arm/disarm.

A workaround would involve sacrificing a Compustar fob and using a relay to jump contacts for the arm/disarm buttons.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably just bite the bullet and carry the Compustar fob.   I'm also looking at possibly removing the shock sensor from the factory alarm. All I really want out of an alarm is for it to trigger if a door opens. Without the shock sensor, I should be able to remote start the car while the factory alarm is still armed. Fingers crossed.
