i have the clifford martix rs3 alarm. im trying to teach the alarm the tach signal. i start the car with the key and hold down the valet switch. the led light is suppoused to light up when the signal is learned, but it never comes on. ive held down the valet switch for around 45 seconds, but still nothing. am i doing someting wrong? or does it take longer for the system to learn the tach signal? thanks a lot

Is the tach wire you used gray/blue at the pcm? (its on the passenger side firewall under the hood)

the LED should light after only 3 or 4 seconds if the tach wire is right.

if the led is not coming on, you have either the wrong tach wire or your valet button wire is not plugged into the brain (or the led is not plugged in) most likely you have the wrong wire

using a voltmeter test the wire you found that you think its the tach-wire.. maybe its not..

I'm with Steve assuming you have the right wire and are putting the unit in tach learning mode correctly, try giving it a little gas to around 1000 - 1500 RPMS or so. You just have to keep it REAL steady at those rpms in order for it to learn. Some systems just won't learn the tach signal if they are too low. Good luck
