i just bought my alarm, and my car, and i have no problem installing the alarm, but just last night i noticed the interior light has a delay on it when you shut off the car. now this will present a problem if the door triggers and running off the light because unless i want to wait 30 seconds to set the alarm, it will always bypass the doors... or am i wrong and it just doesn't matter. someone just give me a pointer! thanks

Some alarms have a dome light delay option where it will delay arming just for this reason. If your alarm doesn't have this option you have to relay/diode isolate the door trigger wire from the dome light with this diagram. ( Use Diagram A )

i must say jeff, i haven't been on this site lately, i moved out awhile ago and now only use the computer at work, but it's good to see even 3 months later you are still dishing out advise. now is there just anyway i can simply bypass the delay on the light and have just a normal door light that shuts off as soon as the door it closed?i hate diodes...

I still try to help out when I can and seeing that I have no life other than work & the forum, I guess I'll be here for a while help other's out posted_image. As far as the dome light delay, I think this is built into the BCM and you can not change this. You can try to see if this is an option that can be removed through programming from the dealer, but this is something that you will have to see the dealership about.

alright i was looking around, and i found this on another part of the site,

However, some vehicles have a dome lamp delay and/or an auto off feature. On many of these, you will want to locate the trigger lead(s) that will show either ground or (+) 12VDC when each door is opened, that is not affected by the dome lamp being on or off.

is it possible to bypass the delay without using diodes? or would it just be easier to run 2 new door triggers...

ohhhhh and tell me what you think, my old car had an Ungo MS8350, and i tore that out after i wrote off my car, and i still have the siren, i know it can be done, i'm not completely clueless, how would i wire two sirens? the guy i was talkign to said something crazy like they will have two seperate chirps, so instead of 2 chips for arming, it would be 4... i thought he was drunk or something, it makes no sense... but anyways, can it be done? what i'd like to do it put one under the hood (obviously) and maybe one inside or somewhere in the back... thanks again

It would be easier to just diode & relay isolate the wire than to run a couple of new wires to the alarms system. If you want to add another siren to the exisiting alarm, use this diagram. BTW: The guy you were talking to was drunk .posted_image

well, i went into visions and brought this dome light subject up to them, the installers jaw droped. he has never actually thought of this possible problem before... meh, it's not like he's stupid or something, see my other post about visions western canadian show car they are building in the regina shop!! i feel so proud :) you are gonna love it. it's a 1976 cadillac HURST with 8 18" HX2's and 8 1500.1BD's.

k well anyways, we had a look on some techtip website, this thing is like the 12volt.com on steroids. i just taped the door triggers speratly before the interior light delay and tied them toghter, diodes weren't needed.

and jeff, can you explain that diagram abit better? it's got like 3 + inputs!? thanks!
