96 Civic Alarm install questions...

Also, where is a good place to ground my alarm ground wire, I know I'm supposed to scrape some metal to get the paint off, and ground it to the chassis somewhere, but I don't want to drill a self-tapping screw into something else...

There is a factory grounding bolt in the drivers kick panel if youre scared to drill into anything....should be a 10mm bolt with lots of other black wires comming out of it

Another question, where should I run the alarm's antenna, someone told me driver's side pillar, is this correct?

Running the antenna up the drivers side pillar will be fine.

Where is a good place to mount the valet override switch in this car, I want it to be really well hidden...

Try behind the hood relese lever in the kick panel...but make the switch turn on from left to right instead of up and down. that way you dont put the car into valet by opening the hood

How about the LED, I see a blank piece of plastic on the dash next to the interior lights turn dial, but again, don't wanna drill a hole there and mess something up...

Any factory dash blank is a good place....but just pop it out before you start drilling, that way you dont drill into anything behind it......I usually put the LED on the top of the steering column plastic cover...it is more visable from either side there

Is it cool to mount the brain of the alarm under the dash with double sided sticky tape?, I mean I can use wire ties if there was somewhere to loop it over...but where?

Mount the brain under the dash, and use wire ties to attach it to the factory wire harnesses under there.....with double sided tape it will probably just fall down with time

When you guys install a relay for starter kill, you cut the starter wire in half, which is a much thicker gauge than all the other wires, these starter wires don't fit into butt connectors too well, even the yellow ones, so should I solder to cut ends of the starter wire to my target wires on my pre-wiRED / socketed relay?

Your starter wire should be the BLACK/ White wire, in the main harness.....and it should accept a yellow butt with no problem....you can usually get away with a blue one there....the wire should slip with ease into a yellow butt...if it doesnt, you need to strip the wire cleaner...I mean with out fraying the wire...and twist it before you put it into the butt connecter.

I was also told I can find all the wires I need in a green plug behind the radio, does that include door trigger? Since I was on this site, I looked it up, and it's supposed to be Light Green with a Red tracer for (-) door trigger, but I read on these forums, that it's a black wire with a white tracer or even a green wire with a black tracer! Which is correct?

Well first rule of thumb....is to always check your wires with a DMM.....to determine your wire color...pull a pin switch out of the door jamb, and check the color there.....but with Civic it's usually GREEN/ red....as for the green plug...it should be behind the radio, and you can get prettymuch all of your wires from there.

Never.....Never Assume anything....always check with a DMM (digital Multi Meter)

i put a couple of alarms in 96 hondas

i ran the siren wire through where the hood release went through the fire wall

and mounted the siren beside the headlight assembly on the drivers side

solder your connections for the starter disable

if you have the coin tray on the drivers side mount your valet switch inside it
