We installed the customer's crimegaurd remote-starter into a 2000 impala. The car remote starts, the driver puts in his key and turns it..but 8 seconds after he puts his foot on the brake ( shutting off the remote start brain) , the security light comes on in the dash.
We connected our relay for the passlock as follows:
Yellow,Black,White from cylinder
Yellow wire is cut.
#30 to module side
#87a to key side
#87 to black wire(uncut) through resistor
#86 12V
#85 negative out from brain

you can try this but you may be better using the dei 555 l

anyways find the keysence wire and figure wether it is pos or neg output. than wire a relay off of the keysence wire to interupt the negative wire from alarm which powers the passlock relay setup. this will shut down the relay mimiking the key before the car see two keys at one time. try this

this setup is with a negative key sence.

pin 87a negative from alarm
pin 30 negative output to the passlock relay setup
pin 85 negative wire from keysence.
pin 86 constant 12 fused

for a positive key sence wire

pin 87a negative out from alarm.
negative output to the passlock control relay.
pin 85 ground
pin 86 possitive keysence wire.

both apps dont use pin 87

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

Thanks for the tip, I will try that, but by any chance, have you seen this problem before? is this common, because I have never seen this happen when we use the prestige stuff.

Did you hook up the factory disarm wire or maybe tapped into the wrong one?  I dont think key sense would have anything to do w/ the security light.

anyway thats just my 2 cents

As far as I know there isn't any factory alarm on this car. Besides, the problem is dependant on the sequence of events..for example, if I start the car with the r/s but don't put my foot on the brake, or start with the key, there wouldn't be a problem.

Get a pldata unit, no need to cut wires, used this unit frequently and never had a problem

What resistor did you use ( 2 % or 5 % ). Some of the Impala's are pretty picky about the resistance and you have to be less than 1% of the Passlock value.

I found out the problem. For these systems you must wire a second relay so that pressing the brake does not turn off the relay with the resistor. When that happens, the car "sees" the change in value (for that moment) and puts on the security light.

The way to wire it is as follows:
Relay #1:
87 resistor to uncut wire
87a key-side of cut wire
30 car side of cut wire
85 ignition 1 (+)
86 ignition 3 (-)

Relay #2:

87 Ignition 3 (-)
87a none
30 Ground
85 ignition 1 (+)
86 Ignition 3(-)

I cannot seem to find the damn tach wire on my 2000 tahoe.  I have installed a viper 550hf, but the starter just keeps on cranking. I have taught the 550 the tach wire (by using the dip switches in the alarm brain), but after trying several wires no luck.  HELP!!
