this is all very new to me, so i'm gonna sound like a complete newbie.

i want to connect the auxiliary A (trunk release) of my concept 200 alarm system on a 1999 Civic.  the wiring diagram for the concept 200 shows that i should be using pin 16, grey/violet ch.A out -.   what would i need (relays, solenoids), and how would i hook this up to my trunk release?

should it be pulsed, or latched?

You will need to get a trunk release solenoid and install it into the hatch reelase cable. Then wire up a relay like this: https://www.velocitymotorsport.com/images/install_notes/N2P.jpg

The solenoid will be the device that actually pulls the cable when you press the trunk release. I don't ever recall a Civic with OEM factory power trunk release so you will need to install one.

would i still be able to use the existing latch to open my trunk as well if i install a solenoid into the release cable?

Yes, you would not know that you have a trunk release solenoid installed when you pull on the OEM lever.
